This week we are celebrating International Women’s Day by championing our very own, inspirational female leaders.
We catch up with Emily Gestetner, Enra’s Group Chief Financial Officer to get a glimpse into what motivates her, challenges Emily faced in her career and charities she is passionate about.
- Who inspires you to live your best life?
My parents always encouraged me to do my best – plenty of sibling competition but also good fun family time
- If there was one charity you could donate to, which would you choose?
Multiple Sclerosis. My mother died from it. It is an illness where a person steadily deteriorates to the point that they cannot control their muscles. It can be both dehabilitating and humiliating and has limited government funding
- What keeps you up at night?
Not a lot! generally I sleep well unless I am ill or one of my children is ill
- On hard days, what motivates you to get up and start your day?
If I don’t get up my dog will start barking and ask for a walk. Almost always a bit of exercise refreshes the mind. One of the reasons you might spot me jogging at lunch.
- What was the biggest challenge you faced in your career?
Coming back to work after two children in very quick succession. I had to learn to put boundaries between work and home and be clear about what I would and wouldn’t do. Same challenge still exists today and any time a change a job I am clear that i need flexibility for family but that I work hard and catch up at strange times of the night if need be.
